Persuasion

She is back…and gone again.

I am grateful that she’s back…even we have limited time, but we manage to catch up a little before we go separate way again.

It was 4 years ago, she spend half year in persuading me, who is having serious insomnia to join gym. Then, she spends half day in instructing me how to move house, knowing how obsessive compulsive I am. Even after she leaves the country, it was her …a year ago during a visit, encouraging me to become an instructor, giving me morning call and cheer for me thousand miles away when I go for my clearance. She is more excited than me, when I did my first class. And again, it was her…who encourages me to make up my mind to move on. For that, she spend 1 year.

When we met…sitting side by side at the Old Town Café, with our favorite coffee and pieces of toast, she jokingly says… “My persuasion skill is getting weaker. I actually spend 1 long year to convince you. ” “So, here is another one… go get marry! Please don’t make me spend 2 years to convince you.”

I think, maybe…is just me being too stubborn. However, many decision…once made, I will not look back or regrets, nor lingering in the memoryland. I will move on. So, I would rather take my time to consider, before I decide.

Anyway, some things…I would just do it. So, here’s one good example…

It was back in February, I make a sudden decision to pay her a visit. She gave me a very useful tip to keep me warm through my night in Beijing – taking off my pants during sleep. The method is to enable our body heat to warm the bed and the comforter, enabling the heat to stay in, keeping the body warm.

Felt doubtful? Me too! However, it does work.

Honestly, taking off anything in such cold temperature is like a nightmare, especially at night. Imagine me literally shouting my way out loud…getting my naked feet into the comforter and “embrace” the cold for a nice 10-15 min, making sure the feet is spread out long to enable the body to get the signal and release the heat. Else, if you did it like my 1st or 2nd attempt, by hugging my knees close to body…the bed would never be warm enough. So, when the bed is finally ready, stop moving around. Else, all effort will be waste. Doing it all over again will be another freezing sensational.

I can still remember how I struggle every night lingering around my bed before I have enough courage to take off my pants. Anyway, you don’t need this if you are staying in a high class hotel with “Hot Conditional” blasting straight to your bed.

However, the experience was extra ordinary. If you like to travel…like the way I do… just keep this technique in mind. Usually, your body has all it takes to give you all you need.

Alright, coming back to the topic…

I am seriously thinking…about the last request. 2 years, many can happen. We’ll see…

Missing Me . Missing You

I am away to HongKong & ShenZhen for the past few days for work. This is my 2nd time there, yet the feeling is totally different.

My first time visiting HongKong (year 2006), I am lingering around, bothering about other people business…even through there’s a sign in ShenZhen say “Do not linger here”. I am happily enjoying the moment, passing through the crowd of people in the slowest pace. A great contrast of movement and expression.

2nd time here…all I have is rushing my way from one place to another. It is very tiring but certainly an eyes opening experience. What a friend used to claim “no paint, no gain”. This trip is one of it.

Finally, when I touch down to KLIA…I am grateful for all I have, experienced and learned. Yet, the day doesn’t end there…but, another surprise waiting behind the pillar.

A smiling face brighter then the sunshine, and a “welcome home” with open hands. Even the rain fall heavily, the airport is cold and the fresh is weak, your presents warm my heart instantly.

I just wanna say “O dear…thank you!”

I remembered this quote…
ANGELS EXIST but some times, since they don’t all have wings, we call them FRIENDS

My dear, you are surely my dearest one!

Greetings from Beijing

I am away from 9 Feb till 16 Feb in China… total of 8 days away from a warm country, to a superb cold country which is said to have the worst snow storm in the Southern area. All my friends think I am crazy and asked me to cancel my trip. But, I didn’t…because I am going to the north. Beijing located at the north, quite a distance a way from the storm area. China is HUGE…and I am nothing close.

So, I went.

Beijing is cold, yet I miss the chances to write my name on the snow. By the time I am there, is already the 6th nine (read my previous post titled “A snow letter”). Beijing no longer snow, in fact…getting warmer. The average temperature is 3 degree in the morning and probably -7 degree at night. The worst I encounter is -10 (I guess…maybe more) at the villages located the most north area of Beijing. Both my hands and legs are frozen and started to hurt. I walk on my toes to constantly to keep my feet alive. There isn’t other way to see the ice show but to be physically there, walking on the ice, looking at the great craftsmanship

龙庆峡 (冰灯) Ice Show

I manage to visit several places, experiencing the life, the food and communicating with people to have a little more insight about this place. Other then sight seeing, I also visit the local New Year Carnival at “Di Tan”(Temple of Earth), experience what local Beijing’s people did during Chinese New Year.

I also went to ski…having the snow wind blowing straight to my face (face got frozen), fall for 5 times and decided this wasn’t my type of game. Thanks to my flexibility from practicing BBalance, which enable me to twist and turn during my fall without injury.

石京龙滑雪场  Ice skiing

The next day, I went to the famous Great Wall of China in the temperature of probably -3 degree, with 3 layers of pans and cloths. Yet, when the wind blows, it almost takes me away. The only reason I am still there is because I became a frozen ice cream that stuck to the ground ^_~. The only way to keep warm is to keep on the legs work (climbing) and our body will generate sufficient heat to keep me alive. I praise God for such amazing body. Yet, climbing up the narrow slope of the Great Wall during winter, layers of cloths and winter jacket wasn’t an easy task to begin with. I start to wonder if I have nothing better to do but to challenge myself this way.

Great Wall八达岭长城

After all the freezing sensation, with lots of legs work…I went to hot spring at “Little Hot Spring Hill”. Again, it sound nice but wasn’t too easy to execute. Imagine taking off layers of cloths in the evening of -5 degree, stepping into a hot spring pond at 40-50 degree. My body is boiling but my head was frozen. An extreme contrast of temperature…yet it relief all the muscle aching and improve blood circulation. I wouldn’t ask for more.

益泉温泉Hot spring

The last 2 days is all about visiting the 798 Factory areas where all the local artist and creative people run their studio and gallery.

I also went to the local market to check out the fresh ingredient available. They have good variety of vegetables, meat and fruit even during winter. Thanks to the great invention of the green house planting method.

I also visited the Olympic Stadium in Beijing, the most happening place gonna be…coming August 2008.

Alright, that’s the summary of my trip. I would talk a little more about the food, the places and things I experience (like the toilet?) in the next few posts. Stay tune!
