Buy my idea?
Recently, I am working on some new art piece for my new house. The greatest thing about this…I get to draw again. The disadvantage is, I do not have the time and the tools to work on the artwork. Buying canvas, paper, colour, brushes and a space, a time with the peace of mind, hopefully with a little inspiration I collected ancient years ago (if the vision is still clear)…it simply too much for me now. I realize gone are those years I get to sit before my art board to work on the painting.
If that is the case, what is next? Just buy off the shelf. The problem is (oh yeah…as usual…I like to complicate life), I can’t find anything I like, which speak to me.
It is always nice to look at some beautiful photos and drawing in the shop or other people house. But, what happened if none of them speak to you? It doesn’t content any message to inspire you, encourage you, rejuvenate your eyes and your soul, and to even bring joy if it is possible. Just imagine putting up an images in your house, where you are going to see it “x” amount of hour everyday, and knowing the investment you are going to put into the images, you most likely won’t be changing it after a good 3-5 years (if you are hardworking).
So, I decided it better be something that is meaningful and inspiring for JP and I. And, I decided to create them myself, paint with the only 1 media I already have…my 8 years old PC!
Then, comes another problem…JP & I have very different taste. I refer something pastel with raw art brushes, natural and a colour layer to create dept. JP is more of the modern techno art, clean line, vibrant color and lively topic kind of taste.
We decided, we will compromise for something in between.
This art piece will go to JP Study room. So, the final choice is his.
91 Blue Bird
I start of with the clean line, but organic tree selected by JP. This is my first attempt and I find it extremely interesting with the 9 blue bird on the tree and one on the floor. The meaning can be either the 1 trying be with the 9 on the tree, or the 1 is the only one rooted and independently commanding the 9.
The 9 + 1 = 10 = Complete = WHOLESOME
The Chosen One
The same organic tree, but total different approaches with the heavy oil brushes stroke across the artwork. The focus is still the tree, but with the colours are so strong which make it look like the “anointed” tree. A tree filled with life (despite there are only branches without leaf). You can expect the full potential when it grows to be the FULL TREE.
He fall for “The Chosen One”. How about you?

hmm, neither one appeals to me.
1st one looks like it’s winter, 2nd one looks like it’s in desert: both seems the tree ‘died’ and waiting to be awaken the next spring/raining season. gives me impression ‘there is hope, and you gotta wait, just that not sure when it’ll come, good luck waiting.’
won’t be hanging either one in my home/room.. haha.. just my 2 cents!
Lydia…I got your point. That’s why different people will have different perception on a painting. Is really about getting one that speak to you.
Having the “dry” tree is JP choice. He simply like the clean hard line of the organic tree.
Yesterday, we print out “The Chosen One” on canvas and he change his mind due to the warm color. He prefer it to be more smoothing blue colour. So, most likely, I will work on something else after a year or two to replace this one. Now, he just have to bear with his choice. ^_~
